Who has the ultimate control of the airspace above my house?
The federal government has jurisdiction over United States airspace - no individual may claim ownership of airspace over his or her property. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) controls air traffic opertions, not the airport. Pilots and the FAA are responsible for aircraft movements, whether those movements take place on the ground or in the air. Air Traffic Controllers are employed by the U.S. government or by private companies that are contracted by the U.S. government.
