MSP Activity Grew in 2013Posted on February 19, 2014
Aircraft activity and passenger counts at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport both rose in 2013 compared to 2012.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported 431,573 aircraft took off or landed at MSP in 2013, which is approximately 1.6% more operations than occurred in 2012. The MAC reports that there were about 33.9 million passengers that traveled on those aircraft, up approximately 2.2% from 33.2 million in 2012.
Nine airlines operate from Terminal 1-Lindbergh and six operate from Terminal 2-Humphrey. These airlines accounted for approximately 397,000 flights. Air freight accounted for nearly 12,000 flights and general aviation and military operations totaled approximately 23,000 flights.
Most operations occur during daytime hours (6 a.m. -10:30 p.m.); however, cargo business activity and flight schedule changes or flight delays due to weather sometimes cause operations to utilize the airport during late night and early morning hours (10:30 p.m. -6 a.m.).
